| Hari Ambadas Gade Hari A. Gade was born in 1917 in Talegaon, Maharashtra, He received a degree in
Science. On graduation he started attending part-tirne classes at the Nagpur School of
Art. He was awarded a Diploma in Fine Arts in 1949 and his Masters Degree the following
year. In 1948 he held his first exhibition with the Progressive Artists'Group. The
following year, he showed at the Salon de Mai, Paris and Stanford University, U.S.A.
Between 1949-55 he continued to show with the Progressives in other Indian cities.
Thereafter he showed with the Bombay Group. He has been invited to exhibit at the Venice
Biennale (1957). His work was recently exhibited at The Modems, inaugural exhibition of
the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bombay (1997). Hari A. Gade lives and works in Bombay,
