Laxman Shreshtha Laxman Shreshtha was born in Nepal in 1939. He received his training in art at
the Sir J.J. School of Art, Ecole National Superieure des Beaux Arts, Academie de la
Grande Chaumiere, Atelier 17 of Williain Hayter, Paris and Central School of Art, U.S.,
1979; Gallery Surya Rettberg, Freinsheim, Germany, 1980; Gallery Maisons des Beaux Arts,
Paris, 1966; Salle de La Presse, French Foreign Ministry, Paris, 1966; First Triennale of
World Art, New Delhi, 1968; Baltimore and San Francisco, Nairobi, 1987. He has
participated in Maisons des Beaux- Arts, Paris, 1966; Salle de la Press, French Foreign
Ministry, Paris, 1966; First Triennale of World Art, New Delhi, 1968; Baltimore and San
Francisco, U.S., 1971 and Gallery Friencrich, Cologne, 1986. Among his group shows

Shreshtha abstract works are both sensuous and meditative in their
shifts and balances of colour. Sometimes echoing the mountain peaks of his native
Katmandu, the pristine white light of rarefied heights sears through the dense opacity of
colour creating dazzling effects.
Shreshtha lives and works in Mumbai.
